Installing the USB driver -------------------------------------------- An administrator must be logged in to complete the USB driver installation. The specific USB driver will be automatically installed when you first connect your Ti20 or Ti30 to your computer. For the installation wizard, follow the instructions below: For Windows2000 and WindowsXP: 1. Do not allow Windows to connect to Windows Update to search for the driver. Choose "No, not this time". Click "Next". 2. Choose "Install the software automatically (Recommended)". Click "Next". 3. The correct Fluke Corporation USB driver should be highlighted. Click "Next". 4. Click "Finish". For Vista: 1. Select "Locate and Install driver software (Recommended)". 2. If a "Windows needs your permission to continue" dialog appears, Select Continue. 3. For the "Windows can't verify the publisher of this software" dialog, Select "Install this driver software anyway." Note: If during action 3, "Don't install this driver" is inadvertantly selected, you will need to follow the procedure listed in the known issues in order for the PC to recognize the imager. -------------------------------------------------------------- 6. Known issues with InsideIR 4.0 -------------------------------------------------------------- 1. When a report is created, Crystal Reports sizes it based on the default printer on the PC. If a PC doesn't have a printer installed, the default printer is set to use the Microsoft Office Document Image Writer. This has different margins than other printers. If you export a report that was created based on this phantom printer, when you import it into an application (e.g., MS Word) on a different computer and try to print it, error messages may be displayed pertaining to the margins. Despite these messages, the report should still be printable. 2. Reports in InsideIR 4.0 use Letter size paper as the default. As a result, when you print a report, the default paper size for the printer will be set to Letter, even if the printer itself has a different default paper size(e.g., A4). If a different paper size is desired, the user will need to select it from the Windows printer dialog during printing. 3. If during driver installation on Vista, "Don't install this driver" is inadvertantly selected, you will need to perform the following procedure for the PC to recognize the imager: 1. Disconnect the imager from the computer. 2. Open Control Panel 3. From Control Panel, open Device Manager. 4. Connect the imager to the USB Port (You should connect it to the same port that it was connected to before). 5. A new item labeled "Unknown device" should appear under Other Devices. 6. Right click on "Unknown device" and select "update driver software". 7. Select "Search automatically for updated driver". 8. Select "Don't search online". 9. Select "Install driver software anyway". 4. Under WindowsXP, If the machine is set up to allow fast user switching and a user starts InsideIR, switches to another user without exiting InsideIR then switches back to the first user causes InsideIR to crashe. Disabling fast user switching prevents this problem from occuring.
